I really like the IS300, but I test drove a 2003 E-Shift and it had one problem that I think might drive me nuts. The 2-1 downshift when slowing to a stop was very abrupt. It reminded me of a Ford Focus that I once had as a rental car. Is this normal? If so, do you get used to it? I thought it was very unbecoming of a luxury car transmission.

Thanks for any input,
Jeff

Just what exactly do you mean by the 2-1 downshift? I never noticed anything like that. Can you please explain in more detail?

It's probably about ready to explode. Trade it in fast.

i dont really understand why some guys really love to play the "our car sucks" jokes, it really sound funny for us owners, but you guys really need to consider that not all buyers are as smart and witty :shame:

That's the idea. If someone is too stupid/lazy/selfish to search, or even read the first couple of pages of posts, I'd be much happier if that person didn't own the same car as me. Namsayn?

I don't dink you should be going around telling people not to buy an IS, just because you picked one out from a bad batch.

Take it to the dealership and get it checked out.

he probably test drove a 5mt because in the 5mt you cant go from 2-1 when rollin only at like almost a complete stop or a complete stop.

That's true of most cars. I had an instructor tell me to put it in 1st around a hairpin 180 at NH Speedway, I was like "yeah right!"

It is not a luxury car. It is a sport sedan with some luxury appointments. Sorry, I have no experience with the automatic so I don't know if it is normal.

Not true. I have no problems doing it up to at least 20mph. Really need to match revs, though.
