I would love to engage in the discussions involving purchasing an 02 IS 300 5-speed; however, I simply can't justify getting a new car after less than 9 mos. of ownerhsip.
Anyway I digress. The actual topic of my post is that I saw my old car yesterday on the roads near my home.
I was an original owner of a 1985 Corolla GTS (aka AE86 or "Hachiroku" to the cognoscente), red hatchback. Anyway, the car was fully modded for its time for auto-x. I had to sell the car back in 1991 to make way for my current car ('94 Toyota pickup 4x4).
I had seen the car on a few occassions shortly after I sold it, but had not seen it for the last five years. I thought that it may have been shipped off-island.
Anyway, after some years apart, I started feeling regrets for selling the car. I vowed that if I saw that car again, I would buy it on sight. Anyway, I saw it yesterday less than 2 miles from my home. I guess you could say now the hunt for my old car begins.
It looked in relatively good condition from my brief viewing (it was driving in the opposite direction in traffic). It was very dirty, but appeared to still have the same rims that I installed back in the late 80s.
If I am ultimately "reunited" w/that car, I've got big plans for it.
This car (and it's 5 speed gearbox) should satisfy my need for manual shifting such that I would not need to covet the 5 speed IS. And it'll be a whole lot cheaper.
