Hey guys, I would like to run 235/45/17s up front but am conscious that they are 25.33 inches tall and the safe/good limit is known to be under 25. I can see that a 235/40/17 would be 24.40 inches tall, and is my backup and safer option.

The wheels will be 17x8 fronts with +38 offset and my fenders are rolled and slightly pulled. Could you please advise if running the 45 series tires will be a huge PITA or if I can make it work? Is anyone running these sizes on stock/modified fenders with tips? My IS300 is equipped with budget coilovers if that aids in the setup discussion. Thanks all!

Do you already have your tires picked out? Federal SS595 come in 235/40R17 and will fit better overall. They're quite cheap too: Federal SS595 Performance Tire - 235/40R17 90V

I run 225/35R18 SS595 on my car (18x9+30 Blitz 03 up front) and it's by far the best tire for the money. The grip/feel rivals the BFGoodrich G-Force Comp2 A/S I'm running in the rear, and they're lasting a lot longer than the BFG's too!

Will probably scrub. Why not the 225/45/17?
I'd prefer to carry a 20mm difference from front to rear and am planning to run 255/40/17s on 17x9 +45 rears. That would be my preference to have more front end grip if possible. It's fairly likely that I will go to wider fenders in the future too, as my existing fenders were not rolled and pulled very well. I think going with a mild +20mm wider front fender is in the cards for me in the longer term.

I do not have tires picked out as my wheels alone will be a 6-8 week wait for importation from Japan. I'm very partial to Michelin tires as I run them on 3 of my other cars with great results. I definitely appreciate the recommendation though!
