Rick, what was the outcome of this, as we are all having a discussion in the thread "Supra Coils".
http://my.is/forums/f114/supra-coils-368366/index7.html

These LS2 coils with wiring harness intrigues a few of us and we are looking for the input.- You seem like the man...

The car has been sitting awaiting time to pull the engine and redo the rings. My retirement is coming up in July and the IS is top priority. Stay tuned!

I have my LS truck coil -on plug setup on two local drag racers' 2jZ engines and they seem at least equivalent to the Supra coils with DLI in performance.

Yeah, what really hurts is that, with all the new, I think innovative, stuff that went into the engine, the thing that hosed it was the FPR. I have to look at the dust covered car every day at the shop without time to spend on it.

Kaldes, you will see me and the car at the Orlando meets later this year. will be good to see you guys again. I work 3rd shift (for 28 more days) and it was always a hassle getting there.

Finally back to work on the car - I'm now unemployed/retired and have gotten enough control over my schedule to make some IS time. Many non - car related crises happening in the last 6 months or so.

I've pulled off the front of the car to make the engine removal easier and have disconnected everything - motor lifts out tomorrow.

Before disconnecting everything I took time to fit a V-band flange on my header so I can mount my new Tial 60 mm gate. I just didn't trust the Chinese cheapie 50mm that was on there to reliably go the long run. And I just love V-bands for easy installation and alignment. This thing has a 2-1/2" dump port!

I'll report progress as it occurs - I really miss my IS.

I'm finally back working on the car now and will soon have the engine re-ringed and running. I will report progress on my other build thread.

Rob, aka LexISpooled, the man who sold me the worn-out Tilton clutch pack (See post 21 this thread) and never made good, as promised, Here is a cameo role in my engine thread. I fart in your general direction. I wave my private parts at you. Feeling the love?

I am in love with your ignition coil setup! And since I am running an AEM series 2 I think I can get away with running this style ignition.
Any ems that outputs a logic level (0-5Volt) or 0-12volt square wave ignition signal can use the GM coils. Again, they have built in igniters so any existing igniters between the ECU and coils are eliminated with this setup.

Got the engine out and disassembled - The first bad sign was that the oil pan had over 1 quart extra liquid in it and that stuff smelled like gasoline.

As I feared, all the bearings are shot and the crankshaft was lightly scored, - rods and pistons OK. I'll give the block a light hone (The piston to wall clearance was set on the tight side for my forged pistons), send the crank out to be reconditioned (the guys at Paeco reassured me that the alloy layer on the journals would be OK with up to a .020" regrind), and replace rings and bearings.

Incredible how this damage could have happened in probably less than 100 miles with raw gas shooting into the intake. I'm still pretty upset with myself that it took so long to realize what was going on with the FPR.

Thats some bad luck there Rick, I know how that goes, I went through so many motor rebuilds before figuring our there was a blockage in my shortblock that was causing me to spin bearings every 800 miles or so. I will be out your way on Thursday night for dinner, I can swing by and drop your scanner at that time if thats ok with you, also I plan on hitting the track Friday, the Lexus is pulling much better now with the coil on plug setup and I want to see how it does before getting my nitrous kit and drag radials next week.

i am praying that the gods of IS builds havent shat on this project and that you find little permanent damage from the dilution issue...

building a stroker 2j has always intrigued me ... i am dying to hear how it sounds on start up idling & pulling away ... then a nice acceleration run/drive by would be sweet.

best of luck man. looking forward to hearing the news whatever you decide

So sorry to hear the news, I was hoping the crank was ok at least. Sounds like it can be saved at least... happy holidays eh?

look forward to hearing more, u cant quit now.... :)

Gamz, what did u do to fix it.?

I had the same thing,, I ended up with a brand new TT block in 2006 after my built GE motor started develping the same problem, I could only get 2 weeks or about 400-500 miles before the new bearing was toast..
and the knocking started...
After the 3rd spun bearing in 2 months, Carson toyota got a call...
