Hello all,

My first post here on my.IS.... So better say Hi first!

I'm wondering if someone can shine some light on an issue I've come up against.... I bought an ISF style all chrome front grille a few weeks back.

My car (2007 250 SE-L UK spec) is in for repair so I asked them to also fit the grille for me... They've called saying the following....

"the new grille doesn't come with a backing plate like the one being removed. The backing plate on the current one is melted onto it so cannot be removed. If you still want the new chrome grille installed you will be able to see straight through it to the fan/rad and also any stones / debris will not be stopped. Are you OK with this?"

Has anyone replaced their oem grille? If so... Did you use any backing plate? As I'm based in the UK it seems very few Lexus owners mod their vehicle so not getting much response.

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Sounds like it would be a good idea to grind off the melted plastic attachment points and use something like epoxy or jb weld to attach the backing plate to the new grill.
