that is a nice feature, I wonder if our car have it? BTW, do you feel that the steptronic react just a bit slow? Is that why you almost hit the redline? because that is the reason I redlined when test driving them.
Usually the redline in a car is set much lower than engine's absolute limit. Like my old Eclipse had a 7000 redline, but everyone knows you can go into 7500 without hurting the engine. I am sure if you just got into around 6500 to 7000, you are fine, but if you go any higher for a long time and do it often, then I may start to worry about long term affect.
