First thing, I apologize if this has already been covered but I got tired after searching for a while with no results.

I know the rear speakers on the IS300 are non 2-way. Will it be okay for me to use just the highs and leave the woofers unplugged? Is that going to cause any long term problems?

Keep in mind that I am planning on wiring the HU (AVIC-D3) directly to the speakers at the factory amp harness. I won't need the woofers really since I have a 12" in the back.

Should work. Just make sure you wired the HU to the output stage of the tweeter of the stock rear's. On the other hand, some here would argue that you don't need the high's from the rears. Debateable. To each his own.

Okay, I just looked at my rears and there are only 2 wires going to each speaker.... Red and black for both... What gives?

I'm pretty sure the harness is 4 pin for dual channel. I look pretty hard at them half a year ago. And check the stickies for the schematics with colour coded wire diagram.
