Raced with a CL type-S

1201 Views 37 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  IS300_SanFran
I raced with a Type-S on sat. and I am very honest... I lost........
but I am not pissed or mad, because I knew it from the beginning that the type-S is faster than my car. I've done every thing you can to make my car go fast (trac-off, power on, I even used the e-shife too!) but on the other hand, since I have my Tien's HA on, my conering is much faster than his
, is just the straight away I am a little slower than his....

Bummer. The Acura hits sixty in approx 6.4 ticks... more than most other cars in this category, including the 330 manual.

So... don't feel bad. You have a Lexus, he has an Acura. Enough said.
I don't feel bad atall, cause I think we all need to addmit that the CL is a faster car than our IS...I still love my car and I think it is one of the coolest car on the market now

Pull ur head outa ur a$SS, read Road&Track Dec 2000 issue.

IS300SF, if it was on the track the outcome might be different.
330 manual did 0-60 in 6.2 sec according to the magazine that gave 6.4 sec for the CL-S. Never seen a 330 manual time above that either, while 6.6 sec is common for the CL-S reviews.

Buck up cissy300.

I meant auto... give me a break.

Besides, face it, if the Acura had a stick it would destroy the 330 and IS, manual or no.

Jeez... got a little self esteem problem or what?
omg how arey ou going to argue 260hp vs like 215hp.......sure there's all the little details but there's still a pretty large horsepower difference for two cars o fnear the same weight....cis300 is an insecure little fruit if he thinks the is300 can keep up with a cl-s
Now THAT's a useless statement - like IF Mitsubishi sold the Evo VI here, it'd blow away . . . yada, yada, well Honda does NOT make a manual CL, and will never make one, and if they did, the car would have such bad wheel spin and torque steer, it'd suck to drive. BTW, Honda doesn't make a manual CL-S because it doesn't consider the car a sports model like the Integra, S2000, Civic Si etc. Honda knows CL buyers don't want a manual. That should tell you something.

It's not a useless statement. I never said they would make one, and I'm not talking about how they are marketing the car... who cares?

My point to cis300 was clear: There are faster cars out there. Relax.
Hey MikeB,

Dude, you are a prick. I love you guys who put Lexus on a pedestal. "You have a Lexus, he has an Acura" dude, you are soo full of ****. Would you be talking smack like that if you were beat by an NSX? A Brand label whore is what you are. Your way of compensating for your lack of power is by dissing the name. That is sooo BMW to say "I was beat by a Lexus, but just remember I drive the BMW". BS man, why don't you get like 20 or 30 posts before making a handful of enemies here. I could easily say that you own the bottom end of the Lexus chain but I like the IS300 and don't like to diss it anymore. You should respect the Type-S the same way and stop getting soo full of yourself and your overinflated ego.

IS300 you were probably not that far behind the Type-S and it is nice to see some honesty here
I am just glad that race did not have any sharp turns involved LOL.

If you think I care how many posts I have before putting you in your place, your dead wrong.

Sorry your ego got bruised. Maybe you should have thought about that before you bought your Acura, or came to a Lexus web site.

As for me idiot, I don't own either a Lexus or a BMW. My opionion is COMPLETELY NON-BIASED. How about yours??? Huh? Your feelings are obviously hurt.

You can bark all you want, the fact of the matter is that Lexus is the better, more respected brand name than Acura. Did I say Acura's suck? No. Are they in the same class as Lexus? No. It's not a disgrace, just a well known fact in the auto world.

And I'm still trying to figure out the point of you NSX comment...
I would not expect you to understand the NSX comment, it would require thought. As for your reply it was predictable and exhausting. That's ok Mike your right, we don't have to like you here. Personally I love you little kids coming on the board with strong opinions and "Internet Tough" attitudes. Tell you what, enjoy your Lexus (if you even own one) and I'll enjoy my Acura. Your still a brand whore but keep in mind just because you own a computer does not make you smart. Coincidentally just because you own a Lexus does not mean you make great decisions. Throwing your weight around here does not do much, trust me, when I came here I was just like you, then I realized the IS300 guys are really cool and not all of the are brand whores or shallow pricks hiding behind a car badge. When you humble up you'll make some friends here.

OK. This is my last post on this thread... your insecurity is getting annoying.

I would like to point out to you that Car&Driver, MotorTrend, and Road&Track all reflect the same view on Lexus, as it pertains to the rest of the automobile world.

Why is it that you choose to pick a fight with me over a remark that is nothing more than the median of thought on the topic? Not only do you pick a fight by personally insulting me, but try to use seniority as a measure of your intelligence. At the same time you suggest that my differing opion means I will not make friends here. A name brand whore I am not... I drive a Mercury Mountaineer my sour friend.

And I am still not convinced that you read the entire thread. Just a few posts ago I was defending the honor of the Acura. Don't you see that?

Again I say to you... if it bothers you that much, perhaps you should have chosen another car.

Who said that Acura is not going to make a 6 speed type S. I recently took my mother in-law TL into service. I was talking to the salesman that sold me the TL in march. There is a code for Acura dealer to order a 6 speed transmission for the TL TYPE-S. So I would not be suprised to see if TL does come out with a 6 speed, even though I do have my doubt.

Also, according to the reasoning above, then M5 should never existed with the manual
autally i'm fickle if you arleady read my post, i'm neutral

I like you guys. Even though I'm a BMW owner, I think you guys are friendler, more intelligent, and more passionate than the crowd at bimmer.org (bunch of jerks). Now who wants to race?

That was me, and now that you mention it, I remember hearing that Acura claims a manual might be coming, but I doubt it, it would uncover all kinds of problems with torque steer and wheel spin that are tamed by the automatic's torque converter. And it wouldn't sell. Not sure I understand the M5 comment, since the M5 doesn't come in auto. The M5 is a real sports sedan, it's RWD, so no wheel spin and torque steer problems.
