So...
As most might know, my car is in the shop for the R154 swap. I bought the MK3 clutch (w/pressure plate) and flywheel.

The problem...
The flywheel bolt pattern for the MK3 flywheel does not match the IS bolt pattern. Any ideas, suggestions or thoughts that might help me out? Or...if you know ther answer...even better?

Help, help help....please...

I still have the stock flywheel on my car. Is there a reason that you want to swap it out?

Thanks for the quick reply Jeff.
I was just thiking it was a good chance to get a lightened one. Not a very good reason. So...there may not be any after market option. I don't remember reading about a lightened IS300 specific flywheel.

PFS sells a lightweight flywheel.

What kind of clutch did you buy? I'm just curious because mine is starting to slip already.

Leson learned:
Stock IS flywheel has 8 bolts.
The MK3 flywheel has 6 bolts.

I think I know what he's talking about. It doesn't slide effortlessly into gear like the W55. You feel each shift as if you're pushing the shifter over a series of notches. It could just be that my synchros are shot though. I'm going to give BG Synchro Shift a try and see if it eliminates some of the grinding that I'm getting now when I downshift into 2nd gear. I don't know if it's just my tranny, but overall, it's not a very smooth shifter.

Got it. Thanks again.

Looks like my swap will carry on..but with very different parts. Soo much wasted $$ I will be updating my initial R154 thread soon.

Hopefully you can return the parts that you don't need. I wish I could offer more information about the shifting. I am really eager to try out the BG Synchro Shift, but unfortunately we had to start getting snow so freaking early this year. My car is in hibernation until April. The shifting on my mx-6 with 160k miles is still smooth, but that probably doesn't help you much.

Please let me know if you like your clutch, since I have to get a new one. Modding cars sucks, doesn't it?

Modding cars is not all that bad. It's when you are trying to accomplish a swap and are basing your parts list on almost no solid information. Oh well...at least I will get it completed. Just not in the most cost effective way :whine:

Get an unorthodox racing lightened flywheel with that clutch. That's what set up I'm running. RPS clutch and unorthodox flywheel.
