Today I was supposed to take delivery of the 225hp Audi TT Roadster... Anyways I specified that I wanted a Black car with the premium package (Bose, Xenon, 17inch polished aluminum), Leather interior, power top... Well I just spoke to the dealer and there has been a mistake... The car is everything I wanted except it has a manual top (very small # of cars with manual top)...I really wanted a power top and I think a manual top might hurt the resale value.... The dealer said that he will take $500 off the car. Should I tell him to send it back or accept the car?

Have you tried using the manual top? My miata has a manual top and it takes all of two seconds to drop. Undo two latches and flip back. I can reach back and grab it (hurts triceps though
) to put it back up without even getting out of the seat...

If you think it will hurt resale and you will be reselling it soon, then you should probably get what you asked for. You could also use this to get the baseball glove stich leather - man that is nice.

Thanks for the advice Tony. I think that if any of you IS300 owners didn't get exactly the car that you wanted, then you probably wouldn't take delivery either.. I'm sure the Manual Top is very easy to use but I think the resale value would be an issue in this case and also, when you're spending that kind of money in the first place, then you should get exactly what you want...

I would not accept it (unless they drop the price a lot). If a power top is what you wanted, I would get that because if there is any regret in the future, it's just not worth it. Pick whatever makes you happy.
yes, good idea and that's what I've decided to do... Knowing me, I know that I would regret it, had I got the manual top...
Eric...
The Audi is a sweet little performance coupe. I think the manual top is more in keeping with the spirit of the car. The Miata doesn't have one for weight consideration...I think the same should be true for the Audi. Other roadsters have power tops, because they appeal to "luxo" sport crowd, aka MB. Take the money and run.

Too late... I already told the dealer that I didn't want that car and he told me that a powered top car is already on the way and will be here this evening. Thank goodness because my day was about ruined... It will be ready for delivery tomorrow..
