I know that a main concern regarding the IS's trunk is the hinge design...so I was wondering what some of the owners think after living with it for a few weeks/months.

My mother's ES has the same design, but compared to the IS, the ES's trunk is cavernous, so the hinges impinging on cargo space is not really an issue.

Also, look at it this way, struts can fail in some way or another and subsequently won't be able to hold the trunk lid open.
I don't see that happening with the IS's hinges...

I haven't carried much in my IS since I got it so I can't comment. heh heh... it seems fine to me.

No trouble yet...but I do wish it had one of those motors to pull the trunk closed automatically...
