Hi everyone,
I am pretty fed up with my IS300. After reading through several other forums, I am going to say that I am not the only one. Here are my problems so far:
1) Severe headlight condensation to the point where it burnt out one of my lights.
2) Door pin (which prevents the front driver door from opening 180 degrees, look for it in your door by your knee) kept flying out allowing the door to almost hit the front wheel!
3) Squeaky driver seat
4) CD changer jammed and stole my CDs!
All of these problems have been fixed. However, I am not too happy with all the time I have had to go to the dealership and wait for my car to be fixed. These problems should not be happening to a luxury/sports car such as a Lexus. I would like to contact Lexus with the link to this topic. Post your complaints and we'll get Lexus to see them!
I was not attacking you. I just wanted to let you know that there are tons of treads of this topic. I probably should have been a bit kinder and gentler in my last post. OH ME SO SORRY!!!
well here's a clue...why not get your problems fixed? warrenty should cover em...by the way my seat squeaks to but thats from a lil too much humpen in it.
Me and my IS have inadvertently caused two different cars to get into accidents, and even one to get pulled over by a cop. Those girls need to focus on the road while driving and stop looking over so much. I'd like to blame it on the IS for being such a pimp mobile... that's the only main problem that me and a few peeps on this board have seen.
Yes, it would be nice if every car Lexus made was perfect. But lets be honest with ourselves here, it will never be perfect. You cannot expect any car to be problem free, even a Lexus.Per every 100 cars made Lexus has the least number of problems. I happened to see that on the news when I was in San Diego back in March.
A few days ago my radio had the all familiar "ERROR3" I am awaiting a new radio to come in and be replaced. I'm not thrilled it hapened but I am far from being pissed off. After reading many posts about the similar problem it made me more aware of the problem and I was able to be more carefull. So when it happened I was not surprised, just alittle dissapointed. I would like to think my IS will never have problems but it will, and that's another reason I bought a Lexus. They have a great warranty, and great service. They kiss your butt when your pissed about a problem.
I have heard worse horror stories about other cars, thats when I know I did not make the wrong choice. I have spoken to many friends that own BMW's, and they have many electrical problems. Such as the sunroof will not open or close, alarm will not arm right away, radios shutting off while diving, and various similar problems.
Just take it easy, yes it's a pain and hassle to have to go waste your time at the dealer, but that's all a part of being a car owner. Take it easy, worry about more important things.
All I have to say is be thankful you bought a Lexus, because most other cars have even more things break, recalls, etc. My '99 Cougar had 4 recalls in the first year. Plus Lexus service fixes things in no time and will probably even give you a nice loaner to pimp around in! I can't say as much for Mercury.
Be thankful that these things aren't safety-related (ECU/TRAC update is debatable)! A recent recall campaign was issued for BMW's because the auxiliary fan would fail and cause the car to overheat (and sometimes cause an engine fire).
