So I just bought the TRD Carbon Fiber grille, and am going to paint it MSM after I get tired of the CF. My question is does the prep for the painting need to be any different because it is fake CF or do I just paint the same as any thing else? I don't want it flaking after a week. I searched but did not find what I needed. thanks

+ rep for any good info

I would have it sanded first. Your new paint will need something to grab onto.
Yeah I figured that, anything out of the ordinary though :)

The reason Im asking is because I am going to start painting my self and this will be my first time. Gotta start some where.

there's a layer of "plastic sheet" covering the surface of the grille. Sand it down with different grid of sand paper. Primer it, paint, and clear coat...
Ok so just a regular job then thanks for the feed back

its just plastic

Prep it and paint it as such, not too many special prepping to be done

I just rubbed mine back slightly, then sprayed it gloss black (only coz the CF was flaking)
