I may be having my wheels' faces painted sooner than I thought, and I'm hoping that somebody here has a paint code that matches OEM graphite IS300 wheels. I saw an old post that mentioned "YR508M-3 Honda heather mist", but I'd like something that matches better than "pretty well".

For reference, here's a pic of one of my old wheels:

Thanks!

Hmmm, I thought they were polished and clear coated. There's no paint is there?

I'm pretty sure that they are painted because I saw one or two small chips in the finish before I sold the wheels.

EDIT:
I'm not positive, but I think this is one of them. It's hard to see clearly, but it's more of a paint chip than a dent because the surface inside the imperfection is undamaged.

I don't think there is "graphite" aluminum. What you're seeing are paint. Sorry, I can't help you with the paint code. Good luck with your project.

Thanks Johnny. Unless somebody has a paint code, I'll just leave my spare with them, and hope they do a good job on the match. I want to make sure they can match the reflective-ish/metallic finish.

Bumping an old thread. Does anyone have any information / knowledge they were ever given from a wheel refinishing shop? Over on club Lexus... Joe Z mentioned that the wheel is painted with a special process, a black base coat and a silver top coat. If true, I'm looking to see if it's a gloss or flat base coat and a bright or hyper top coat.

Would hope someone can chime in before I start randomly spraying paint / endeavor a trial and error method.

I don't have any specifics, but I was told it would be a 3 part paint process. I never ended up getting my wheels painted. Price > care.

I'm looking to get this done now and have been researching if it's possible to fix up old OEM "graphite" color rims. What Joe Z is speaking of is "Hyper Silver"... basically a black base or grey base coat get's applied, then the "hyper silver" color, then clear coat.

If you wants the rims to be darker apply thin light coats of the "hyper silver" if you want more silver to shine through apply more "hyper silver"

Plenty of videos on youtube about hyper silver.

This weekending I'll be sending pics of my messed up oem "graphite" rims to a few wheel specialists in my area to see what they can do. I'll update this thread with pics of my rims and their answers once I hear back.
