Car is throwing code P0161 which is B2S2. Decided I would actually replace and fix it rather than do the free fix. Just thought I'd share my price findings with others:

Part Number - 89465-53120
B2S2 for '01 IS300 (103k miles)

Lexus of Wilmington (local stealership) $177.27
Iron Toad $141.82 + shipping
Denso $114.74 + shipping

Went with the Denso and found a 10% off coupon :approve:
what website did you get your densos? i have a B1S2 problem on my 03 IS

I went to the Denso site or so I thought, and when I purchased was diverted to sparkplugs.com

I purchased the generic, same for all four, and comes with anti-seize, crimp on joints and shrink wrap, genuine Denso. about $45 each for 2 shipped, yes I used a coupon for 10% that offset the shipping. Also check amazon, as they were about the same once you have the part number.

I just did B1S2 on my car. Here are some tips if you buy the universal sensor (IanH, beware of deja vu):

This takes about 10 minutes, and will save you about $50 vs. a direct fit.

Lay out the OG and replacement sensors side-side. Fortunately, there's a piece of plastic loom right where your splice will be. Peel off the tape on the plastic loom, and push back and tape the rubber loom to expose the wires. Stagger your splices so that you don't get a big lump in the line and that the connectors don't rub against each other and possibly wear down the shrink wrap and short each other due to all the vibration. The butt connectors that come w/ the Denso sensors are really nice, and I'd like to get some for other projects.

Just looked at that Amazon link. Looks like they went up $5 since when I bought one a couple weeks ago.

Replaced bank 2 sensor 2 in my 01 IS300 last weekend using the instructions in this thread. Took about 1.5 hours total. We used the Denso OE plug so we could skip the wiring. Part #234-4517

This is probably a dumb question, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere. I haven't purchased the Denso universal 234-4209 yet. How do I know what universal sensor wire to splice to the B1S2 plug? Are they color coded?

They give you an insert that says the heater black two wire, signal blue, and ground white connect up. They some Chrysler plugs and import showing wiring.

I believe I already posted some of our wiring, but i can see from the insert the heater is two wires same color, that ready just leaves the signal and ground.

So for B1S2 we have (this is 2001.x on) your colors may vary !!

OX- this looks like signal to me--- W White

HT --- Heater ---- Green w Blue stripe

E1 --- BR Brown ganged so not signal
+B --- other heater???...Blue Red stripe.. ganged so not signal

E1 is ground goes to manifold .

Other thing to note is others have said heater wires are thicker gauge

Some one who has done this please help. I haven't put mine on yet !!

So I need to replace B1S1, B1S2 and B2S1, looking at densoproducts, I see that "2 sensors required" for 234-4626. What do they mean?

As far as I know I need the following:

B1S1 - 234-4626
B1S2 - 234-4015
B2S1 - 234-4630

is this correct?

I don't see how you need "2 sensors". There are only 4 holes (according to page 1) for 4 sensors. The universal fit 234-4209 doesn't have that phrase under it. I'd just buy the unversals for $43 each.

BY THE WAY, WHAT IS UP WITH AMAZON GOING UP $5 FROM $38 TO $43 SINCE LAST NIGHT?? :burningup

UPDATE: I just did a B1S2 replacement with the Denso part 234-4209. You can't really see the sensor nut from the top and the wrench was so big that once B1S2 broke loose, I'd definitely hit B1S1. I had to slide under the car behind the front left wheel. I removed one of those screws that held the plastic underbody and I had just enough room to get a big 7/8" wrench on it. It came off pretty easily, however, I did hit it with PB a day before. Splicing was simple and the butt connectors where good quality. I thought I'd have to solder, but the supplied butt connectors do not allow for it.

When the moment of truth arose and I turned the key, there was the CEL glowing in my face. So for all of you who want that moment of victory right away, definitely pull the negative cable off the battery after you are all done to get rid of the CEL for good. For $43 and a good 2 hours, this was a bargain.
