what are you paying for your is300? when i got quoted by my local lexus dealership, they told me $595/mo.with nothing down except 1st month and security (no cap reduction) and 15K miles/year. i told them they were on serious quantities of methadone. we never settled on a good price.

i hope all y'all found a better dealership...

lets not sugarcoat it 'lease' is fancyword for 'rent', cant love something that not yours
Yuck $595 bucks a month????

I used stock options to pay for 80% of mine.

No big monthly payments for me!
Leasing = playing with the idea of "Time Value of Money". Renting is prob. not the best idea for a home (sometimes you just can't help it). But cars are a depreciating asset... why would you want to keep on paying for something that constantly goes down in value? You're fighting for ownership of the car with depreciation each month. There are advantages to both though. It's not a lopsided as you make it seem.

BTW: This doesn't apply if paying cash or someone keeps a car for a LONG time.

if you're not wasted, a day is.
i'm leasing my cl-s for $490/month, zero cap reduction, 1st month only (no security), 15K miles/year. best deal i could find. total out of pocket: $509.

libbeu lau timmaw!!
DJ- all the fancy number are giving me a headache the way i see it is you 'buy' the car and it loses money but if you end up selling it you minus the difference and what you lost is operating cost for the time you had the car which is lik as the lease payments +fees either wya its operating cost.

those who lease/rent you not getting away with murder

Excuse me but your nuts! Lease is not rent. Lease is paying for what you use. So if you intend on getting a new car every 3 years why would you buy the entire cow if you just want the prime rib? So this way you pay for what you use and turn it in.

You obviously know nothing about leasing. Comments like that are usually made due to someone's ingorance about the topic.
Cap cost of 32,300. NO money down, no security deposit. Payment 475.00 plus tax for a total payment of 504.00.
ISFAN YOu call it what you want in the end you pay for whatyou use I go rent a Neon and I payfor what i use SAME THING At the end you've paid $XXXX which is howmuch it cost you to drive you precious IS for 36 months after that you RETURN it to the rightfull owner which is the bank or Toyota, in the end you BORROWED someones car and youpaid money to use it.

you don't own jack
ISFAN BTW that explains why you post in general discusion forum, that don't let you in the owners forum bc you don't own nothing
I don't think you're understanding one this about leases though. You're right, you don't own anything... but you also don't pay anything anymore at the end of the lease term either. You're saying it's all the same... leasing a car and buying a car and selling it at the end. The difference has to do with Time Value of Money. In the end it probably works out to be very similar, but most people don't want to pay for the entire car, before getting their money back minus what they used. A lease is a way to only pay for what they used without paying the entire value of the car, then selling it.
Leasing a Neon (or "fancy" renting) will not cost the same.

Second - leasee's get to return the car but also have not shelled out the entire value of the car + interest. The owner on the other hand, at the end of three years has a car that is getting less and less desirable and still has more payments to go.

Your a putz. Go check out the owners forum. I am in there plenty. Your a dick!
ways i see it 'lease' is invented by the autoindustry, there selling point is why be a schmuk and keep a car for years why not drive a new car every 3 years and throw it away like a disposible camera, WHERES THE SENSE OF OWNERSHIP!!!?? If I love my RS as much as you your IS AND I DO i would own my RS and I PLAN TO! IT's a COMMITMENT ive made to my car bc I love it, where's the love here???

Commitment, what are you screwing your car too? You sound like a wack job.

Oh and by the way since we are on the topic, those of you who "buy" their car with a 5,6,7 or whatever term loan you as well do not own your car. THE BANK DOES. No one ones their car until it is paid off and you have the title.

So yes again if you plan on keeping your car forever, as I see 22B is since he probabably has married his car, your best bet is to lease and only pay for what you use. That way in 3 or 4 years you still do not owe 25,000 on a car worth only 20,000.

Back to the Owners forum I go. I tell ya it just gets thicker and thicker in this ****ville general forum!
ISFAN, those of us who 'buy' our cars are proud owners YES I AM A PROUD OWNER or soon 2B and I GET TO USE MY CAR without mileage limits. a long time from now i would be able to say yes I OWNED a 2.5 RS-you'll say YES I RENTED ONE OF THOSE TOYOTAS
