i went to stevens creek at 9 this morning and looked at the 2002 IS300. Its an auto with pretty much standard options like moonroof and leather/power seats. No nav or 5speed. The red is a pretty tight color and it has the smoked tails which looked good even on the red. They took delivery of the car just this morning and still had it in the back, so it may not be in the front lot yet since they were still detailing. Sorry no pics but the san jo ppl should go check it out. Obviously the 5speeds are due in a couple weeks so that should be cool to see too. Bah, a boring post but atleast theres proof that the 2002s are arriving.

ok here is the deal, the 2002 is not all that

the arm rest is like this, they took off the latch and added a pos arm rest.

the speakers have chrome around them, kinda cool

the tires were bridgestones

the rest is the same, this model was just above base at 33k !
sounds like someone is a little jealous???

anyways, the 02 is all that, everything has been improved that was lacking. and the stick is finally available, so are 14 second ets (stock) . the nav screen lends itself to many possibilities and hopefully all the bugs will be worked out. don't hate, you got yours a year or so before the people waiting for sticks could even think about a car.

the base 2002 is ****!!! plain and simple. save some $$ and get a 01 if u can, now i didnt get to sit in a fully juiced is300, nav etc, I like the 02, but dont see the big deal unless its the 38k is300!!!

fool!
LOL.. don't be mad cuz you bought a 2001... The fully loaded 2002 will cost you about $35.6K in manual fully loaded with the luxury package, LSD, moonroof, etc... The dealership said they were willing to negotiate as well and when I asked if they would cut 1000-1500 off the price they said that would be possible....

Are the 02' IS's not really out yet? My neighbor has had a RED M/T IS300 (with the weird arm-rest, the chrome rings on the speakers, and the one color black dash) for about 2-3 weeks now... we've been having fun laying patches down in front of the house with it...

It doesn't look any different from the outside compared to his 01 yellow IS300, other than the "smoked" rear "altezza" lights (or as Hunduh owners like to call em, Euro-Accord tails... lol, I bet in europe, the accord has lights similar to the ones here in the US).

I actually think I liked the 01's interior better, but the stick is a nice add-on.

BTW, he works for Lexus
Bastage!

He did have the red "showcar" M/T IS300 prototype they keep taking to the F1 races all over the country about 3 months ago, I think it had a leather shift knob, red inserts in a carbon fiber steering wheel, and some ugly 18" rims with a million spokes and fake rivets. No VIN number, so we couldn't mess around with it

i am getting the "38k" one, only it costs 33.5k where i am at. believe me, for the people who like stick, it is a much better choice to get an 02, don't be jealous, you could always trade up and have an 02 also.

Relax...is300soon is in the Bay Area of California, where all the car dealers rape all the techies working in Silicon Valley.
