According to the service guide, Lexus IS300 needs an oil change every 6 months (or 7500mi, whichever comes first).
I don't put that many miles on the IS, and I was wondering what happens to the oil.

Not using the car a lot is harder on the oil than driving it long distances.
Sludge and other impurities build up as the oil is not driven up to get it hot a lot.
Since an oil change is the most important thing that you can do to prevent problems get one every 3 or 4 months no matter how far yuou drive it. If you take it for a trip then you can extend it.
Cheers

Damn, that's sick!I change mine at about every 2000 miles, or every 5 weeks. With a new car off the lot, It's suggested that you should change your oil your first 500 miles.
