Has anyone painted their IS front bumper and hood from excessive rock chips and if so how have your results been? Have you put Expel or some other form of paint protectant on it after the new job was done. I have had my car for 27 months and 45k miles now and am thinking about getting those items repainted. Any thoughts???

I haven't done it, but the process has crossed my mind. I believe a lot of people have done this. More quality paint will have less chance of getting dinged up as bad as the stock paint...give it a shot. Xpel looks like shit and is expensive...I wouldn't waste my time.

Put a front end mask over it. Colgan Custom makes a great product.

As far as repainting, well, the bodyshop's paint is much more durable than the OEM one.
I had whole front end repainted on my 2001 IS and the new paint was much more paint-chip resistant.

However, there are still debris out there that will get through no matter what.

I recently discovered a small hole in my car bra, and sure enough there was a big paint chip, as well as a dent right on the edge of the hood. I'm thinking something sharp and heavy hit my car. If it was XPEL kit, it would need to be replaced. With the car bra, I don't sweat it.
