I heard that removing name plates orginated in germany on the autoban, so people would not know what kind of car they were racing against, like for example when some one would race a 5-series they would not know if it was a 6 or 8 cylinder model. Real car enthusiasts could tell what model it was by the tire size and engine sound though.Originally posted by EricK:
