MANUAL SWAP AUTO ECU

Build thread coming this week, really been procrastinating that.

I want to manual swap my 02 beforedropping in the built motor, also I’m still waiting on my fuel system goodies so I can’t do the motor yet anyways. I have a Collins full swap kit for the CD, looks like a sweet kit. Can I jump the safety switch and just go on with my life or will I have issues? My friend mentioned possible DBW issues without an emulator/manual ecu? I have a Panic Wire Link G4x sitting on the bench so technically I could use that, if I have I’ll probably just wait until I drop in the motor so I don’t have to rig it up to run the car as it sits.
Thank you guys

also I know that I will have a CEL but who cares 🤷‍♂️

The only thing about jumping the safety switch is that it’ll start without the clutch in. Obviously, since that’s the point, but only you can decide if that’s what you want. You will REALLY want to make sure the car is out of gear when starting. No other effects as far as I can tell. Any reason why you want to do it though?

As for the manual ecu, it’s not needed. There’s a thread specifically about using the auto ecu in a manual swap: IS300 MAuto Mod - Ultimate manual swap wiring - NO CEL -...

thank you, I’m saying what if I don’t do any of thatwiring for the auto ecu? Like a do the reverse lights and jump the safety switch and call it? Thereason I want to do thisis because I will have a stand-alone in the car within a month, just want to swap the car before so I can make sure the transmission and everything that goes along with it is in good working order None of this will be needed once I’m standalone. Not worried about and CEL, just wanted to make sure the car wouldn’t run bad because of it.
CD009 will cause a CEL because it's a Nissan transmission. AR5 will be seamless because it's an Aisin transmission, which is owned by Toyota. /Thread

I believe (and I’m just googling stuff so you may have seen it already) it’ll just be in neutral all the time until you shift into reverse, if you have the reverse switch hooked up. Supposedly, the throttle response isn’t great when you do that.

Although I did run auto ecu with T56 swap before turboing, I can’t remember any of it… I don’t recall any major problems though but like I said I also can’t remember. Fueling and etc should be fine if you left the engine alone.

im waiting to hear back from panic, worst case scenario I’ll hook up the stand alone. I’ll try just jumping the neutral safety switch and not hooking up the reverse switch and see what happens, I assume that if I use dodos method of tricking it into 1st that’s all I should need to do, I’m not going To hook up the pressure switch and the transmission harness for the other codes or worry about the input and output shaft speed I think it was. We will see what happens like I said this is only forclutch break in so boo boo if I have a CEL, I would like decent throttle response tho, I’ll update you this weekend when I do it

Quantum Auto makes an ATEMU and resistor kit for manual swaps. Im running their ATEMU on my 01 and my roommate is running the ATEMU and resistor kit on his. It makes the car think it is in park (and even display it on the dash) until it is over a certain rpm itll read 2 on the dash.
No problems with running an auto ecu in a manual car. Just merge the wires for the park/neutral switch so it will crank. The reverse lights are easy to wire into the auto wiring if your trans has a reverse switch you can wire to.
It works fine with auto ecu. I’ve found that there was some lag when getting back on the gas after shifting. Personally, I didn’t really like how that felt and switched to a manual ecu but it was as still perfectly driveable like that. Many have done it that way.
