Bummer for you. I purchased my car 8/00 and zero problems. Gotta love Lexus reliability. At least for me.

Have mine since 7/2000. No serious (as in have dealer take a look at) yet.

car has only 1600 miles... Wasn't the gas cap, that was my first check. I usually turn off the engine when pumping, once I left it on and the people in the car said it was rattling. I'll be at the shop tonight and will follow-up here. I will talk to them about the ecu upgrade but all they usually say is that it's in "testing".

I got mine at 1/27/01, the car was assembled in 12/00, with 3500 miles nor problems except for

1. seat belt makes moaning noise when i go over bumps.

2. a slight wind noise, but that already going over 100pmh. The dealer is waiting for an update to fix it.

3. nothing else

Not a single problem with my IS300 so far (12000KM) except the defective stereo unit (stuck CDs) within the first 2 weeks of ownership.

Probably the dealer was not doing a good job for the pre-delivery inspection. Or they put wrong fluids or incorrect fluids in the wrong place ?

what is it with me and gas stations... hehe I think I get distracted by the attraction the car gives over there..
it was my error as I didn't tighten the gas cap more than a few clicks... well I need to adjust myself accordingly to the sensitivity of this car, the steering and accelerator response is leaps and bounds over my old ride and the gas cap too.
