lightest rim

If rims on our stock cars really weigh 45lbs it may truly be a good investment to get some good looking new rims, dont expect 10 sec 1/4 times but it should make a noticealbe difference in performance and looks.
Volks look great and apparently weigh as low as 15.8lbs per rim(18inch).

45x5=225
15.8x5=79 (assuming u buy the spare also, if not u can get a regular wheel in for a spare, not a rim, it would weigh about the same)
225-79=146 difference! Thats like having one less person in your car.

I would like to know if anyone has the exact weight of any 18 inch rims that weigh less than 16 pounds. Any pictures and specs are also greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
gary

naw your calculations are way off...45 lbs is wheel + tire for stock...and also, remember that wheels rotate...so you have to calculate rotational mass instead of just dead weight. the savings are quite a bit more than just wheel for wheel.

but here is a good site if you want to know some wheel weights.

www.wheelweights.net
i believe it is 45lbs, just the rim, it is approx 48-50 lbs with tire, but for this purpose im only comparing the rim weight only not the tire weight. I have some knowledge of physics and realize that rotational mass is different from dead mass. Dont remember the formulas that relate them in terms of acceleration so feel free to chime in and remind me.
no way can the tire be just 3-5 lbs man...the entire wheel/tire combo is roughly 45lbs.
Light Wheels

18 x 8 SSR Competition = 15.4 lbs.

SSR Comp.

225/40 18 = about 28 lbs.

Thank you sir :D ...however, the S03's are some heavy ass tires...now I know you don't sell the Toyo line but one reason why people choose the T1-S over the S-03's is because of weight...and comparable handling/grip characteristics...
Sure

Sure, we have lighter tires in the same size but still the S03 posts the fastest lap times when compared side by side. Hard to deny the empirical data.
45 is way to heavy for the rim alone.....

25 for the rims and 20 for the tire sounds right

i know my avs e100's weight in about roughly 20lbs a peice

what about velox, buddyclub, centerline, 5zigen(new forged)....

but i'm thinking in terms of 17''...sacrifice style for weight=save money
