from autoexpress.com:
"Lexus, the luxury offshoot of Toyota, has announced it is slashing the cost of all its models by 10 per cent.
The Japanese firm said buyers would now be able to buy the popular IS200 model from as little as £18,340, while similar savings were also to be had on the GS300 and LS400 models. The news comes at a time when other luxury manufacturers, such as Porsche and Audi, have also cut prices and follows disappointing sales figures for Lexus this year."

With all the competitions around from different car manufacturers, it's a distinct possibility that Lexus may drop their prices for the 2002 models.....(I hope!)

Bimmers and MBs have more competitive prices lately.....Maybe......Just maybe L will drop prices a little (or same price as 2001s but NAV included????)

I don't see that happening in the US.. aside from the original GS300, I've never seen a real drop in price from model year to model year.. and from what I heard, the drop in GS price was only because the original model was designed by Pinninfarina or something.. the most disgusting price increase I ever saw from Toyota must be on the 91+ MR2.. in 96 a normally aspirated MR2 was like $22k or something.. but back in 91, a turbo was like $18-19k..

Here are some examples of cars that "shot up" in price over the years:

1> Mazda Miata
2> Twin Turbo Toyota Supra
3> Twin Turbo Mazda Rx7

The Miata for example kept going up such that early used examples could be sold for more than the original MSRP. The same thing could be said for the first couple years of Lexus producction.

Near the end of Supra sales in the USA, Toyota dropped the price of the Twin-Turbo Supra by $10K !!!

I think sales had stopped due to the price and they probably slashed their per-vehicle profits just to make sure that they satisfied their sales targets before they pulled the model out of the US markets.

I don't think they'll drop prices here. Lexus has a better reputation here than in Europe. Europeans are more nationalistic when it comes to these types of cars. If anything, they'll just decontent the cars like they've been doing.

I have to apologize for this thread, I think my original post about Lexus cutting prices is only for Great Britain, where car prices in general are inflated over continental Europe. Also, Audi, Jeep and Mercedes have slashed prices in Great Britain, but i don't think any of this applies to Europe, just GB. Sorry, shouldn't have brought up this thread.
