Comparing last year's C to IS, there is no match (we have both at home and is trying to get rid of the C right now). Comparing to current C, I would say the C320 is a more luxurious car, but at a whopping $49+K for a full equiped one, I think it is not worth it.
Do you know you can get a GS400 for almost the same price?

how about combine the money for the C320 and Bimmer and get a C43 AMG? Now that will be something really worth having. Of course there is the M3, but I would get the C43 AMG because I think it will be more like a collector's car, unless they decided to mass produce them.

Yes, I have a C230 Kompressor, actually my brother does. I can tell you from driving both cars, the IS is definitely faster, but not by much. My brother agrees too, and now he wishes that he would have wait and get the IS. I don't know if I want to do what you suggest because I don't want to encourage my brother to race. However, he does have bigger rims then the stock, so his acceleration time will definitely be slower than a true stock C230.
I'll let you know if I do though.

oops, my bad, I got the two mixed up. Yeah I mean go with the C32 AMG (my head isn't working after doing some Laplace Transforms homework). Anyway, I said the C32 because I think it is a bit more practicle than the M3 and you can still get the performance similar to it. Other thing is that C32 should keep the value very well since MB usually don't mass produce AMG cars as the BMW mass produce their M's.
Just a suggestion though.
