dont forget the rad. cap chado. koyo 2row takes 32 mm ID 16 mm deep cap found on 80's toyota's and 90's v8 landcruiser (stock for the IS is 1.1 bar/16 psi) ;)
i have a high pressure blitz cap that fits the stock radiator, will that work??

yeah...+'94 2jz equipped cars got a revised rad cap. did you get a blitz type 2? koyo racing aluminum needs a type 1 cap. its documented on other vendors sites and other 2jz forums. maybe THMotorsports should revise their web listing. oem fit means oem rad cap doesnt work :p but thats for all the radiators ive researched.

thanks, i searched on this forum and everybody who has a koyo just said you needed a high pressure cap, never mentioned anything about which type.

i dunno if you wanna use a high pressure cap. stock system has a max rating of 1.25 bar (17.8 psi) meaning yeah your fluid will now boil at a higher temp but pressure will be beyond the max capacity before any relief is given. think of all the coolant seals main example is headgasket! honestly, since you are already going 2 row you will be well within temps/pressure for the stock system to handle. especially w/o FI. going to a higher pressure cap is mainly to suppress hot spots within the motor and to keep an area from boiling and placing air in the system.

^^ alright then why does everyone recommend that for the koyo? i don't use high pressure caps on my stock radiator.

well for one, its could be that these high pressure caps fit (lets call these caps type-1 per blitz). so instead of recommending an oem cap (pressure wise) they tell you to get a high pressure cap because they are easier to find/research and most importantly fit since they are a type-1.

im not 100% on this, but i researched and found that a '98 v8 landcruiser has a type-1 cap @ 1.1 bar (stock).

sorry... i would have posted this info sooner. but im holding out until i get my cooling system setup and squared away. the radiator i went with came with a fitting 1.1bar cap; so thats why im not 100% on the v8 cruiser cap. however IF the radiator i got came with a 1.3bar cap, i would have purchased the v8 cruiser cap and know for sure.

good luck!

ps. now THMotorsports has useful info on their sale post :p
