I just got home from sitting in a 2002 automatic Crystal White IS at Key Lexus of Valencia. All I can say is WOW.
1. It had full leather. Let me tell you for any of you that said that you heard that the leather will be low grade leather, you need to go feel it for yourself. All I can say is that it is buttery soft. MUCH better than the ecsaine. The seats are perforated but you can barely tell. They were so nice to sit in, damn. The door panels still have the ecsaine on them but it is solid, not perforated like the 2001. Looks much beter.
2. The dash is nicer too. Where the 2001 is grey, it is black and made of a more rubbery surface. Made it look much better too.
The armrest is perfect. The dealer told me and it looks as though 2001 models can upgrade w/o any problems. I was really trying to check that out. Only one small cup holder though...not like 2001's had any anyway.
3. The NAV was the best. Got to play w/ it a bit. Totally talks to you and has many little options. Great display too. The controls are really easy to use dispite having them down on the center consol. You use a little joystick type device to scroll through the options.
The auto-dimming/compas rear-view mirror is cool too. Not as cool as the Nav or leather.
4. On the outside nothing has really changed. The front grill is painted black and has a chrome strip around it. Looks better. The Crystal White color looks almost identical to the DWP if not the same. The car was in the sun and you could totally see the pearl in it. Don't know why they changed the name or what they did to the color, if anything.
Only downside to the car....dealer asking price...$38,000.
Dealer said that it will sell for that sticker too just cause it is first 2002. It is automatic too but MAN was that steep.
Dealer said they are getting a yellow 5 speed in a couple of weeks. He said that for the most part they will be trickling in for the first few months. Around Oct he said they should see the biggest volume of 5spd and Auto's.
That is it I am trading in my 2001 for a red or silver 2002 w/ leather and NAV.
Wow what a cool day.
