I will update this thread as I go but I'll start with purchase date to present time 👍👍

For now here's a picture of when I bought it compared to early 2019

Hey, what was the process for cutting the rear fenders? One layer of metal or two? I might have to do some chopping this weekend. Lol.

I cut a arch out of the outer skin/fender first then slotted and hammered the inner skin upwards for integrity. I welded the inner skin back up, cut the excess off, and then sealed them off with fiberglass filler

Thank you. I had to get some advice before I went to hacking. Gotta clear some space to fit the low offset rears.

Take your time, measure, and mask up areas to prevent fallout on the paint (If you're repainting you can kind of skip this)

My cuts aren't 100% identical but they are close enough to fit my wheels&tires. Once I figure out what wheels I'm choosing I may/May Not have to go back in a cut some more

Carbon duckbill is about 95% cured. The binder clips left clamping marks (expected) so I'll lightly sand them and continue working on the trunk. For a first time it doesn't look too bad but there's always room to improve

I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd coat of epoxy. This coat is still a bit tacky so it needs to dry for maybe another day. I'll probably do about 2 or 3 more coats with wet sanding in between.

This is just a test fit to see what causes interference and where I need to trim before clearcoat

Been kind of busy getting my Galant ready for a Mitsubishi meet in Orlando so not much on the IS. Sanded it down a bit and applied another coat of epoxy. I also trimmed the excess carbon off for better fitment

Now for the last major steps.
-Final wet sand to get everything smooth and flat
-Making sure everything fits where they're supposed to go
-2-3 Coats of 2K Clear
-Final Buff and Polish

One thing I noticed... the plate mounting holes aren't there. But the trunk lid is gorgeous.

Thank you!

Yeah I'll be drilling them out before I spray clearcoat lol. I noticed after reapplying coats of epoxy I end up drilling them out after each coat. So I'll just wait until I'm finished lol

That duckbill trunk 😍

Reminiscent of the E46 CSL trunk I had on my car. Definitely something I want for my IS.
