Lexus has already confirmed the GS450H, but do any insiders here know if a IS350H or something along those lines are in the works? Because if so, I am going to wait on my 350.

Yes. Lexus will offer hybrid drivetrains in all of their vehicles according to my service advisor at Beverly Hills Lexus.

He said next is the GS (which we know), then the IS/LS and it'll filter into all of their SUVs

I dont know how they're going to offer 6cyl, 8 cyl, and hybrid-6cyl drivetrains in their cars... Im guessing pricing will be heavily spaced or the V8 will be eliminated

I also heard about the hybrid IS. I have no idea what the displacement of the gas engine would be though.

^ exactly. I have only been told "most likely" 6cyl + hybrid to acheive 4 cyl gas mileage with V8 power.

I'm SURE there will be a V8-Hybrid (in the LS) to offer steller performance and high teen-mileage instead single digits like the E55 returns.

i would think something like the 250 engine with electric motors. it would be interesting to see how Lexus would package the whole (larger) drivetrain into the small IS.

The RX330 became the RX400H. The GS430 became the GS450H. I would think the IS350 would turn into the IS430H. YEAH

Here's what I wrote several months ago in the "Next IS" thread parked atop the Roundtable Forum:

"Given Toyota/Lexus's strong commitment to hybrid power, this version is highly likely. Whether it will be an IS450h (with the GS450h's 3.5-liter V6) or an (educated guess) IS320h (based on the IS250's 2.5-liter V6), or even both options, is unknown at this point. Perhaps the possible 2.5-liter V6 hybrid is the reason there's no new IS300..."

I'd add that an (educated guess) IS380h (based on the GS300's 3-liter V6) is a third possibility. It all depends on how Lexus wants to skew performance vs fuel economy.

Imagine a IS hybrid with the power of the 350 or more with the fuel economy of the Yaris that will be sweet

It's the GS350 that became GS450h, not the GS430. The said hybrid IS if ever released will logically become an IS450h.

The IS350 is already fuel efficient for it's engine size and "power". It's even more fuel efficient than the 250(according to lexus.ca). I don't see a need for a hybrid with a sports car.

It's interesting to contemplate. I personally feel the IS250 is a great idea. Not everyone is crazy about power. But they should also offer the 3.0L V6 from the GS300 in the IS. One notch up would be the IS350, and then the hybrid with 350 hp or so.

They would probably upgrade the IS250 later on. Like the IS200->IS300. Do anyone still own a IS200????

Breakdown for the slow....

RX330 + 70HP Electric motor

330 + 70 = 400 = RX400h

GS350 + 100HP Electric motor

350 + 100 = 450 = GS450h

The IS (This gets tricky, since we don't know what engine they will use)

Could be...

IS300 (3 liter from the GS300) + 100HP Electric motor

300 + 100 = 400 = IS400h

or

IS250 + 100HP Electric motor

250 + 100 = 350 = IS350h

We don't know what combination they will use yet.

within 6 years ( info so far ) every model of lexus will have hybrid technology. please remember that current 4th generation technology offers awsome performance at moderate fuel consumption increases .

All I know is an IS350 with V8 will be coming out to compete with the new M3 or M4. This is according to a friend who works for Toyota/TRD.

I think a hybrid "new IS" is more likely than the M3 Killer.

the alphanumeric system lexus uses denoted engine size in liters ( except hybrids ) so if an is350 was going to have a v8 ( doubt it since its current v6 out hp's the current v8 ) it would be more along the lines of 400 + ( or 4 liter + ) or a 350 engine + hybrid . close enuff . we shall see
