Big Snow Storm in Toronto today. (20cm of snow in the GTA area)

Just came back from a long drive. Going from East end of the city to the mid end of City and then south..etc.

I have 16" RIM with Toyo Garit HT 205/55-16 and driving with the snow mode on.

The car was amazing. I have no problem, what so ever. I came upon lots of hill and saw tons of car got stuck, sliding all over the place. Jetta, Caviler, Prelude and Corolla all got stuck or sliding all over the place. (Most of the car probably just have all seasons tire) I just breeze by them. The grip on those Toyo tire was amazing. Braking was great, stop light launching was great.

Before the storm, I had serious worries about the IS300 on snow. After today, not a concern at all. All I can say, If the city have snow, get the winter tire package. (I stongly recommend 16" rim with Toyo Garit) I am just totaly amaze by those winter tries. I think 16" and 17" rims makes a big difference. I know a few other GTA IS300 owner with the Toyo and 17 rims. Any comments on your experience today.

I had a Honda Prelude SR (93) before, I used all season tire on it during winter. The car was dangerous. Every snow storm, I am all over the place. The IS is way superior.

Bottom line, IS300 great car in any weather with the proper tires.

I had a hell of a time in chicago with my IS. I have the stock 17's and potenza's on and was scared for my life out there. I could barely move. A couple times i was stuck at an intersection rocking the car back and forth trying to get some traction. Some guy actually pushed me to get going. I also was going like 10-15 mph and slid halfway through an intersection twice. I must look into those toyo snow tires and 16's.

Rberga1 -- I am surprised you made it! I was driving through the fresh snow last Friday here and I fishtailed every time it tried to change lanes on the highway. The Potenzas had no traction whatsoever. Major problems going up the big hills (had to turn off traction and snow mode to spin my way up). I got snow tires yesterday and what a difference it made! I had no problems getting to work today.

I got it from a local Tire dealer in Toronto call Steelcase Tires. Toyo Tire is very easy to get here in Canada.

Total cost $1,537.50 Cdn$ The price includes 15% tax. Yes we have 15% sales tax on purchase here in Ontario. 8% GST and 7% PST. Kind of scary.

But I thought the price was very reasonable with rims and tires. The RX300 rims only comes with a toyota cap. If you a lexus cap, you have to buy them separate from a dealer.

Snow tire, well worth the money. Just cannot take a chance on our little baby, since I only have one car.

How much and where did you get them. Ice storm here in KC -- nasty stuff. Didn't even consider pulling my IS out of the garage with the Goodyear's on it. Just drove the trusty camry...boring.

We got a nasty surprise this morning as we left home for work. The snow was almost knee deep. Our street wasn't ploughed at all. Good thing we bought a set of new snow tires last Saturday. They were great, able to claw our way through the deep snow onto the main street with no trouble.

The tires weren't anything fancy, just the Bridgestone Blizzak WS 50s. But they are stil alot better than the Pirelli winter tires we had been using the last 2 seasons. Very satisfied with the Blizzak so far.

After trying the snow tires, there's no going back to the "3 seasons" tires for winter.
