For reference - the IS300

If we limit competition to rear wheel drive approx 3 liter 6 cylinder
"Compact-4door-Entry-Luxury-Sport" cars, then we get a reasonably short list with cars like:

BMW 328i/330i

Daimler "w203" C-class (3.2 liter V6):

Audi A4:

Infiniti X30 (based on XVL show car) with CVT

Mazda RX-Sedan (based on RX-evolv) with Rotary Engine

Teg what exactly is a rotary engine? Is that Mazda going to be rear wheel drive? This is kinda off topic but, do you know when they are going to redesign the Millenia (I can't find anything on it)? Thanks

If you want to learn about rotary engines,
go here: http://www.monito.com/wankel/wankel.html

They are small, smooth, and make good power.

In the past they were criticized for reliability and fuel consumptions concerns,
but the latest version is supposed to be
better than ever.

Yes, Mazda plans their RX-sedan to be rear wheel drive.

I hear there is a new Millenia on the way...

The Moller Skycar uses 8 rotary engines and lifts off like a helicopter and then tilts the engine cylinders rearward and flies at up to 350mph with a range of 900 miles. One day we might all be riding in these. Rotary engines are pretty nifty in power to weight ratios.

[ From TEG: Yeah - Mr. Moller has been working on that project his whole adult life... It has yet to really fly in any constructive way... Maybe his grandkids will get it to work someday ]

Could you tell me where can I get more picture of Mazda RX-Sedan ?? Thankx!!!

[From TEG: That picture is probably an
artists rendering or retouched spy photo
of a concept car. I haven't seen other
pictures and the production version will
likely look different.]

Hey, I'm new to this Forum. First, Mazda vs Lexus, excuse me while I go laugh. <giggling in the background> Also, Mazda "reskined" the Millenia (sp?) for 2001.

Are my eyes deceiving me? The RX sedan looks n-i-c-e... This is just great! With the competition heating up we consumers will have more choices and better offerings!

Junior Member,

Let me correct you about "MAZDA vs LEXUS".

First, Lexus is from Toyota.
Sescond, Eurno (in Asian markets) is from Mazda

Therefore, it should be Eurno vs Lexus (they target at the same market).

I don't see why Mazda cannot compete with Toyota if we are comparing "car by car".

I bet you ARE pretty new to the AUTOS.

2002? How about now?
Look at the cheaper 3.2CL Type S and the cheaper Infinite I30. Both these cars have more HP and refinement at a lower price. Just food for thought.

[ From TEG: I was limiting comparisons to 6 cylinder REAR WHEEL DRIVE cars. The 3.2CL type S and I30 are front wheel drive cars.
If we talk about any cars now, I would include
the Jetta VR6, Licoln LS, Nissan Maxima and others
like those listed in the Webmaster's comparison chart ]

If you are limiting the comparisons to rear wheel drive, doesn't this rule out the Audi A4 (except Quattro which is all-wheel drive)?

[From TEG: Right you are... Although I think alot of people who shun front wheel drive would be happy with AWD as long as performance was not compromised ]

Also, Acura is supposed to be working on
a year 2002 "IS300 fighter".

A rear wheel drive sedan using the
220hp S2000 engine and a 260hp 2.5 liter
version (still 4 cylinders!).

Honda may be using the internal codename "AAV" for this vehicle.

after looking at the pictures of RX-sedan, IMO, its side looks very similar to Mitsu's Lancer evolution (or 4dr-Mirage in US). I kinda like that RX-sedan though since it is very sporty looking and I like rotary engine.

For the Honda pictures that Teg just posted, the 1st car look extremely ugly. And I can't tell much differences between the 2nd Honda from a 2000 model acura TL, RL, CL or even an Accord (they all look alike). But I admit their spec sound very nice

The first Honda pix will be the 3rd gen. Integra (what is shown in busybeetoys.com). I am kinda like the new Integra's (front) look--look like a B747 jet.... lol

Re: new Integra

The sides look pretty cool. The front reminds me of a Pontiac Sunfire. I hope they don't make that mistake.

Just so you know, anything from Busy Bee Toys should be viewed with suspicion. I don't trust their content.

[ From TEG: Thats why I started this topic
as "rumors". *Everything* I mentioned is
speculation. ]

I think the S2000 headlight looks exactly like the one on IS300.
Altezza in Japan was released back in 1998 as 1999 model, S2000 was released at the end of 1999. Hum........I highly suspect Honda copies Toyota design (while I also suspect Toyota copies European automakers' design)

It just seemed like everyone is like, "whoa, it's from Busy Bee Toys, so it must be true!" I wanted to make sure everyone knows that Busy Bee Toys is pretty much a pile of garbage. ;P
