I know that this is the newer one because its smaller and fits in the original ecu box, but the white sticker doesnt say race-ecu like on all the other ones i have seen. Im just wondering because i never seen this one before.

Yes, that's the R-ECU. And its not melted. Stickers are placed over those screws so SRT can tell if the product has been opened/tampered with. Looks as if the stickers have been removed and someone has opened it up.

it says 98-03 so it must have been made this year, so yes it is a race ecu. they switched to the race ecu in 02.

update

i emailed srt and Marken said the r-ecu in the pic is the latest one out and is legit.

and if no one has heard the r-ecu's can support headers on the fly. just set it and forget it. the ecu will do all the work. Marken said "After you add the header, the Ecu will do the rest on the fly."
