Hello everyone
my name is Anthony
I go by ANT

I own www.secondskinaudio.com
and am looking for a daily driver that will also serve as my demo car.

what ever car I get, I will load it up with second skin products, as well as a few performance mods. Car will also get a pretty mean sound system

Right now I am kinda tossed betwee the Merceded C230 kompressor

the C230 is a lot smaller than the IS300 but they both are apealing to me.

can you guys sway me in either direction?

as much as I like Mercedes, I can't get used to the 230k's rear. Have you driven it before? I don't really like the power delivery

For those who don't know, 03 models & up have a C230 K "sports sedan" so he may not be talking about the hatch. The C230 K "sports sedan" actually has very good handling (suspension & tires upgraded from basic C-Class).

The IS300 is more reliable & has better performance.

The C230 K is better looking IMO & has better resale value.

So it boils down to looks vs. performance IMO. I'd take the IS.

I was talking about the coupe, not the new sports sedan. I like the looks of the coupe, and it is in my price range.
any suggestions on IS300 ?
new? used? any specifics I should know of?

if your looking for a daily driver and are looking to save some money than you should look into getting a used IS... you can get a used one for a really good price, and there isn't much difference between the 04's and the early models performance wise.

What up Ant and welcome to the board. I had to make the choice between those cars plus some others last year. As someone else said, test-drive both cars since that alone may sway your decision - it did mine. Also if you like the C Sport Coupe I'd look at the C320 instead of the C230. The C230 is supercharged but there is that lag when you hit the gas. If you plan on showing a bunch of your products having a four-door to display them may be more beneficial than a 2-door. The one thing that I did like about the C230 was the panorama sunroof. Overall, for me personally, it came down to standard features, power, and driving fun. I still enjoy driving around my IS300 a year later. I'll often times take the long way home just to drive.

BTW, most if not all people on here will be biased towards the IS300. I suggest you go over to csportcoupe.com and get the otherside of the coin. Do a search in their forums for "IS300." I remember there was a discussion going on at the time that I was buying on exactly this. They argued that the C230 had more standard features than the IS (which I knew at the time was a lie since I thoroughly researched both cars - on the C230, HID's, power seats, and CD changer were extra options). Also they believe that Lexus = Toyota+$$$$. They accused Lexus buyers of buying for the brand since the same car is available at a lower price as a Toyota. "Hello...McFly...." Pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot. What would you call people who buy an underpowered 4-banger because of the 3-pointed star?

I still like the C Sports Coupe though, every time I see one on the road I check it out. I like my IS300 much better ...but that's just me.

I love my car, the reliability factor is priceless. You really can't pay for piece of mind. But people see the IS as a kids car, as an expensive Toyota and not a Lexus. But a Benz is a Benz so you get the elite factor there. I don't get the feeling for the C-coupe, but the new sedans are pretty sweet. Have you considered the G35 coupe, although it's getting played out too. If you're going to do a car for demo and shows then you might want to consider something that is not too common so that it stands out from the crowd and not blend in, like a Volvo S60, now you don't see too many of those around and it's got some nice lines too.
