Is the IS worth it to...........

Is the IS worth it to modify to make faster.
There are TONS of cars coming out in the next year and i was wondering if spending 4-7K on a Turbo or SC kit is worth it, or just keep the car for a couple years and get something faster for the same or less money!

there are more and more cars coming with factory SC's and turbos and its much easier to MOD a FI car than a NA

Obviously if i went FI then i would keep the car a while, but if i spend like 5K on a Kit, what is it gonna get me. maybe 300RWHP
still not enough to beat the everyday TA or Cobra!

what do you guys think!!!!

Bro if speed is what you crave, get the WRX... Ugly as sin, but will win....

I'm thinking the same thing. I got the IS cause it's fast and has great styling. Lexus needs to put more HP into the IS so that it can compete with the 260HP maxima's and the acura TL's.

It's just starting to looks silly that even car like the Altima are goign to have 240 HP.

You have to keep in mind that the IS300 wasn't designed to compete with 260hp TL-S's and Maximas... It was designed to compete against the BMW 3-series, Audi A4, and the Mercerdes Benz C-class....

The need for speed can play game's with the mind. but please don't mix apples and orange's the IS in it's class is the best sedan out there. if it's speed you want jump into a top fuel funny car.

mike, i think its well worth it. if you are a car enthusiast, you buy a car with potential than start modifying it to get to the point you want correct? if you really wanted a car that's already fast, you could of gotten an saleen s281 or ws6. there will always be newer and faster cars out, thats what makes the world go round...

if you want to be able to play, you have to pay, especially for a lexus. start saving your $, because i assure you it will cost a fair amount to make it fast. i already plan on putting atleast 10 grand into my car for performance, otherwise it will be slow.

sell the is300 and get the furd lightning svt. 385hp, 0-60 in 5.2 sec.

why pay that much for a car that can only go 0-60 in 5.2 sec (if its speed you want). buy a z06!

S 281? why bother get the S351 saleen..honestly it is a toss up as far as what you want to do with your car.. You could get a Mustang and easily acheive the 400+ hp mark but why be everyone else.. I am going to try to build my IS to that mark but still have one hell of a nice lux car at the same time

I say keep your IS, it's one of the best looking cars out on the street. Who cares if that ugly a$$ WRX can beat you? Our car still looks better, bottom line.

About the WRX, if it is 240hp with turbo, what is it stock? w/o turbo.

Without turbo, it'd probably be weaker then the RS and have less then 160HP.

Now that Lexus has a car to compete against the BMW 3-series and cars in this class... they should NOW bring out a M3 version Lexus to compete against the BMW M3. Maybe use a turbo considering that'll be the less pricey way to go and plus its closely related to the GTE anyways. That is what I want to see!

The WRX comes with a turbo from the factory and makes 227hp and 217 ft-lb of torque.

The 2.5RS, however, is not turbocharged and has 165hp stock.

I'm definitely keeping my IS. Chicks seem to dig riding in the IS over those others (which may be slightly faster but uglier). For me, it's not all about the speed... it's about the finesse.
