Those guys in Japan are crazy with their cell phones I'm sure you all know.

If you wade through the FOUR pages of Altezza-style Tail Lights on eBay for various cars, you might find this:

Lexus [email protected]@1 IS ALTEZZA "Phone Wrist Strap"

Thought it was cool...

Yes, I got one with the silver car and a blue strip. IT came from a friend of mine in Asia who bough it as a gift. Since the cord is soft, I use it as keychain instead.
that is too damn expensive for that little phone wrist strip!!!
my phone don't need one... http://www.ericssonus.com/us/consumer/MicroSites/T28/Index.html
Well, its nice when your car's color match the one on the strap.

Unfortunately I have a black Altezza and the phone strap is silver. UGGG!

BTW, cost of living in Japan is quite high. When comparing prices, divide everything by 2. Would you believe a cup of coffee costs US$10 in a nice hotel in Japan?
I have been meaning to ask how much the altezza is in us$.. anyone know?

Well the one I have is the RS200 Z edition.
2L 4CYL (3S-GE) 6 speed manual.
210HP with Dual VVT-i. 17 inch standard.

The interior is a little cheaper than the Lexus IS300. Some of the nice trimmings that exist in the IS300 are not there. HID is not available either, only comes in multireflector halogens. And mine comes in cloth seats. Leather/Alcantara was an option.

So you can't just compare the price to the IS300, but here it goes.

My Altezza was MSRP YEN2,500,000 ($23.36K). After adding the superlive surround (8SP + 6CD + 1MD) and Navigation system, carpet, window visor, etc it was roughly YEN2,850,000 ($26.6K). Then after tax it was YEN3,400,000 ($31.7K). So if you want to compare this to the IS300, just add what you think is a 5SP automatic tranny upgrade, leather seats upgrade, 2L to 3L engine upgrade, better trimming, HID headlamps and a whole lot of other luxury options are worth and subtract the NAV system. See if you think you paid the right price.

The above doesn't include the discount I got. I'm not going to tell for its private information (I'd rather keep it private). But let me say that people get about YEN100,000 ($900) discount for an Altezza these days.

BTW, I've posted some information about importing the Altezza to the US in the Altezza forum a while back. To say the result, its not worth it.

Damn, the ebay price is so high.. the actual cost of the thing is only 700-900 yens per strap if I remember correctly.

Yes, I do. The cost of living in Japan is outrageous. Aren't kisatens expensive too? Dang everything costs too much over there. But I do want to go...
Are you saying tax is 19% for cars? 31.7/26.6 = 1.19

When buying a new car in Japan, there are many kinds of taxes that you must pay. It doesn't have a designated percentage. From what I remember there are :

5% consumption tax (VAT) on MSRP
engine capacity tax (paid annualy)
weight tax
acquisition tax
mandatory car insurance

Then you must pay the dealer for title, registration and handling charges. You can do it yourself, but I did't have any spare time on weekdays so I let the dealer do it for me. In my case, all this added up to about YEN550,000.
THX!!! I really just wanted to see what car's that the US offer's for the same price range and type of car.
