I know you can change the key pattern on a house lock without replacing the whole thing, so can it also be done to a car lock?

A quote to change a F-150 door cylinder (2) was $500. This sounds ridiculous.

No way dude! I had my ride broke into one night and they smashed the window and also stole a spare key out. POS Progressive would not pay to have all 5 locks done and reprogram the ignition and buy 3 new keys. Luckily my homeowners did cause it cost almost $2k! It took them about 3 days (waiting for the new keys to arrive). :x

Wow, sorry to hear. That's hella expensive. I guess I will have to find another way. Maybe a junk yard will have some spares for my friend's truck.
