Anybody know if the IS300 motor is truly an interference motor?

ie....if the timing belt snaps...it bends valves and/or trashes your motor?

I thought all imports were built this way, but after researching, only some are this way.

I just had to convince the girlfriend our 01 with 99k needed it done no matter what. Just completed last week, with new time belt, water pump, serp belt, was $800.

Technically it's only an interference motor with VVTi activated. If you're lucky enough to have the timing belt break while under ~3500 RPM the pistons won't introduce themselves to the valves.
