I have a 02' IS and my driver's side headlight has been going out......and coming on again! The first time it happened I was driving down the road and got pulled over. The cop told me I had a light out. When I got home I turned the car off and later went out again. The light was working!

It happened again another time, and when it came on, it stayed on for months. Now it happened tonight. I just pulled into a store and got a drink, returned to the car and it came back on.

So I guess the question is whether this is a sign of the HID light going out, or if it's an electronic problem (fuse, faulty wiring)?

Could be your Ballast. I would check that.

What you can do is swap out the ballast from each headlight and see if the problem switches sides.
