plus type-r is a manual.. but what it comes down to is how skilled is the type-r driver handling his stick.

it seemed?? so it seems u r really not sure if u had both b4.. anyways, you were asking for a comparsion for both cars "stock" form, so yes, in "stock" form, type-r would out perform an is.

but anyways, i noticed you have mods listed under your signatures.. with the sway bar and springs mods, of course ur is will handle better than an type-r

OK HOW'S THIS FOR YOU I KNOW IT IS FASTER... THE TYPE R WAS QUICK BUT THE IS300 HAS MORE BALLS YOU COULD SAY.

you hafta remember, the vtech in the type-r doesn't kick in until the rpm is really high (above 6k rmp or something, i dunno the actual figure & dun care.) so basically the power in the type-r doesn't really kick in until u've floored the accelerator for a sec or so. while for the is300, the peak torque comes @ around 3.5k rmp, much lower than the type-r, that's why you feel the car has more power.

Another illusion of quickness is due to torque, and the IS300 has lots of it (218 lb-ft vs. <140 lb-ft from the ITR) spread out over a wide RPM range. This is the "push" you feel when you press the throttle.

I've raced with my buddy and his stock Type R on the street and the race track. He's faster both on the street below 60 mph, and on the track in corners, but our cars are dead even at higher speeds like over 70 mph - he couldn't pull away from me on the banked oval.
I'd guess my stick 325i is about the same quickness as an IS300, but not sure.
Type R will corner much faster than a stock IS300, so I'm not sure even with the mods if you'd be faster.

actually stock IS auto vs. stock ITR auto would leave the IS as the winner.

...oops, my bad, the ITR only comes with a manual shifter, huh?
