Hi, i have been reading this site for a long time, never had to post because i always found what i was looking for. However, this time i would like to learn more about the difference in sound between different intakes. I am currently considering PLP silent flow intake, SRT and Joe Z intake. I would like to ask if there is a difference in sound to these intakes? Or do they all sound the same? I don't really care about the power gains, more into the sound. Also, what type of sound am i suppose to expect from an intake? Does it make my Apexi exhaust louder? Thanks for reading.

I think the SRT sounds amazing after you hit WOT...not to mention the power gains are quite impressive...absolute best intake on the market for the IS300.

I have never heard the other two in person but have heard through many posts that they are not something to bring on track day.

The PLP and the Joe-Z will both be pretty quiet. The SRT on the other hand will be quite loud at wide open throttle. Most people, including myself don't consider it a "bad" kind of loud...but it definitely makes the car sound a lot meaner. As far as what your exhaust will sound like, the intake really doesn't have anything to do with that.

Good luck.

as you can tell from my sig, I got the PLP SFI

I like it. It was an easy install and after the ECU was reset the intake differnce could easily be felt! Its super quiet but I can hear a little rumble from the engine at WOT. Its not much but I can notice it. It works for me so pick waht works for you.

PS : I also wanted a stock stealth look, so that was also a big plus!

Why would you not care about the power gains but only the sound? I bet you use to own a civic with Vtec....

Sound is the number one criterion on 7th gen Civics, because intakes don't give much gains on those.

Does the sound change at all if all i got was the Blitz filter? The reason i ask is because it seems like with an intake, i am just replacing pipe for pipe. O yea, i care more about sound other than gains is because i don't think i would feel that much gain with an intake, don't want to get my hopes all high. But hey, sound is always a good gurantee.

I really suck at installing stuff and I don't have access to any special tools or anything, so I am curious, what is required to install the PLP intake? Do you have to go underneath the car? :-?

I have been looking at some INJEN intakes. I found a couple different versions... one has the stock # IS2091P and the other has # IS2094P. I know what their difference is but which one do you guys think its better? And how do i tell if its the generation 3? O yea i know that i need an SAFC to actually make it useful...

where are you located? I can help you to install it if you are in Orange County, CA.

There's nothing at all wrong with wanting your car to look and sound good. Not everyone wants to performance mod, and there's nothing wrong with that.

And honestly, how many "performance modders" out there have I/H/E and nothing else? Do you REALLY call them performance modders? Do you flame EVERYONE who has only I/H/E and maybe some pullies, cams, or WHATEVER other so called "performance" mod they can afford?

There's more to modding than performance, and caring about the look and sound of your car is perfectly fine. If you're not huge into performance why not make your car more aesthetically pleasing to you? Just because you want it to look and sound good doesn't mean you have to be a racer, and it doesn't mean you have to be putting down 300+WHP either. Don't listen to that guy.

Edit: Very nice. For some reason I thought the year on this post said 2008. It said 2003. Mmm THAT'S ancient...
