Is removing the tires really necassary?

Can this be done with the car on ramps or do the front wheels need to be off the ground?

Any ideas how much torque should be applied to these bolts when putting everything back together?

BTW, to remove the nuts at the end link, you have to use a 5mm Allen key at the thread end and an open wrench. However, beware, because the 5mm hex is VERY easy to strip. Make sure you have good penetrating lube.
