Define hard time? The only problem with doing that is money. Some people can't afford to take the low offer on trade-in for the newer model.

Yeah, define hard time? I would think, if you go back to the same dealership, they would bend over backwards to get you to buy a new car. They will make money with you buying in a new car and from your trade-in. Why would they not want to make money off of you?

They will be more than happy to sell you a new car, I promise. The end of the year is a great time to get a good deal on an 02 also.

But, if you put very little down or nothing down, you will probably be upside down and it just may not make sense for you.

For me it was a pleasant surprise and wasn't expecting to get the deal I got. I did have a friend that sold me the car plus I believe they already had a buyer lined up for my car. The deal for me was that I leased for a year and a month with 18k miles. They bought the balance off, even lowered the sticker price on the 02, and I just had to put $500 down to lease another and my payment went up 8 bucks for a much better car (I pretty much had a basic 01 IS with cloth, no power seats, no LSD, no auto dim mirrors, no roof). So technically I lost only $500 but it was a deposit anyway which I'll get back. My point is that its very possible and it all depends on timing...and friends. 8)

BTW my payoff on the lease was for around $25k. They turned around and sold that damn thing for $28k. Too bad my friend quit working there. If he could give me another deal, I'd get a freakin' 03! I lease my cars as a business write off anyway in case some of you are wondering why I would mod a lease - well technically my company pays for it anyway!
