what's with some of you being so senstive to the point of leaving all of a sudden? every forum you go to will have undesireables inside -- this is the internet, remember? if you don't like a certain person or topic, simply do not read the post. simple. you should take advantage of that selective abilty...God knows we don't have it real life.

hell, i don't read about 70% of the threads posted here...

Some people are just more sensitive than others. Especially when their pride and joy is being confronted with criticism. By the way I heard that Lexus owners are notorious for being snobs. Sometimes I wish the IS kept its Toyota badge when it arrived here.

Please explicate more on this thought. I would like to see your educated notions of what the Internet is all about.

ispeed, i gotta hand it to ya: a fairly intelligent IS300 owner. impressive when contrasted to the simian likes of smra and a few others.

ppl don't realize that most everyone who bashes the is300 (or any other high-end car) would love to drive one if they had no other choice. i chose the cl-s because i wanted more speed than the is300 had to offer, and a pure RWD car here in michigan can lead to problems as a daily driver if the winters get bad. it didn't help that the local lexus dealer is hard to tell apart from a ford showroom, and that i don't care for the ricey taillights. but all in all, it's preference.

I'm not being sarcastic. So it would be great if you may explain to me your perception of what the Internet is about.

the internet from the forum perspective is pretty obvious. inside any community vehicle there will be a few select undesireables, as there is no real consequence. it's no mystery that the anonymity of the internet causes people to amplify, exaggerate, or altogether change their persona, because in the end, no real recourse can be taken against them.

i've moderated for a few UBBs in the past, and this happens all the time -- despite the quality of your membership and topic, you will always always always have a few trolls and miscreants. it's the nature of the 'net as it pertains to community discussion groups. if you want a perfect illustration of this, go to any UBB, or hop on USENET or mIRC and check the trolls and antagonists in newsgroups and IRC channels. in "real life," you don't get this behavior because the threat of consequence is immediate.

so despite your patronizing tone that implies you have the internet pegged much more thoroughly than I do, there's my response.

Ahh.. you said it all in your 1st sentence. I thought you speaking of the Internet in general, but you were only speaking of forums.

Speaking of IRC. I regged the chans #is300 and #is300.net on dalnet. I think the only person that showed up when I was in it was azn_pyrde.

no, the internet in general is pretty tough to crystallize into a UBB post.
the context of my original sentence was

every forum you go to will have undesireables inside -- this is the internet, remember?
and about IRC, not many people know how to use it (or even have a client for it)...at least that's what i've come to find.

I couldn't log on to dalnet, i think its because I am behind a router, sharing an ip with 3 other guys. I think dalnet require identd and for some reason they don't detect mine even though its enabled. (I think its because router)
but I can log on to icq irc server no problem
you should come over to server irc.icq.com
then I can join you guys

Thanks... I think. From one fairly intelligent owner to another at least we can agree that we're very fortunate to own the cars we drive. There are many people out there who would give an arm to have either one of our vehicles. Although I'm relavely new to the forum I gotta admit your presence here makes reading the posts more... interesting.

Yes it has to do with the ident daemon. It communicates via port 113. Thus you must open port 113 on your router. If its the Linksys BEFSR41, the one I have, its pretty simple to do.

G - Quit calling me a pu$$y...I see your little comments here and there...I said I'd read but not post...I grow weary of the battle especially with the VW and Integra dorks.

It was a measured response...I have been getting sick of seeing all the stupid comments and I figured I'd rather waste my time in the porn chat rooms.

I'll miss BS'ing with the likes of you and Doug - you are both crazy bastards and I'm sure we'd be friends in the real world..I know I'd probably be banging Doug's girlie behind his back anyway....
