OK folks,

After reading quite a few stories about people who retrofitted GPS to their Gen II IS, I took the plunge and bought a GPS headunit from a breakers yard.

I'll not go into every detail here but in short I managed to get an ML DVD / GPS unit working without too much hassle.

1. Bought the head unit with steering controls, and about 12" of wiring loom on each connector (very very important) from a breakers yard.

2. Removed the male connectors (freebies) from the back of my stock (non-dvd radio).

3. Made adaptor cables from between the 12" looms and my freebie connectors.

4. Connected the new unit to my stock wiring loom using my custom adaptor cables.

5. Now I've got 6 DVD changer / GPS / bluetooth etc etc. :)

Photos to follow, but for now here's some teasers . . . .

Label Everything!!

Remove everything on any use from the headunit!
