So I'm tossing around the idea of getting rid of the IS since I drive it maybe once per week (I commute via subway) and instead getting something cheaper, such as a Civic EX Coupe. I called my insurance company, USAA, and they quoted me at $950/6 mo on a CIVIC! My IS300 insurance is at $850/6 mo!!! That does NOT make sense!!!

They said it was because the IS is a lot safer than the Civic, and because of the theft rates, etc which make the price higher.

I traded a 2001 Civic EX coupe for my 2002 IS and my insurance went up about 20%. Most of that is based on the appraised value of the car.

But that's still ony $480 per six months with $500 deductable.
