I bought a Dell in July of last year with Windows ME and it sucks.

So I want to upgrade it to something (XP?) but I have 40gb of mp3's and porn that I would hate to lose.

I'd really hate to spend a weekend backing all that up though.

What's the easiest way to do this without spending money? I'm sure I can borrow a copy of XP from someone.

partition magic. lets you split up your drives and you can put all your files on one drive and just reformat the drive that holds ME.

if you don't wan to spend money, get a friend to hookup a computer through a network (router, switch, hub) and just copy all your files onto his computer and reformat.

i RECOMMEND doing a clean install. don't upgrade from ME!

The instructions said install WinMe or better so I installed Linux and solved the problem. Thanks to AMD, Netscape, and Linux I have broken out of the butterfly cage. Wintel free at last.

Go to the Dos prompt and type:

[code:1:8588782ca7]deltree c: -y [Hit Enter] [/code:1:8588782ca7]

(No one seriously do this)

I tried that, but now my computer won't boot up. What should I do now?
