A friend told me that I should not wash the IS every weekend. That will hurt the paint in the long run. He suggested that I use car duster to take the dust off lightly. Then use the Baby Diaper Cloth (very soft) with Tutle Canuabe wax or the Mcguire Detail spray bottle to clean the car once every two days. How do you guy maintain your car ?

i wash my car pretty often, but not too often.. washed it yesterday and waxed it today... i maintain the clean with a duster and detailing spray... i always use micro-fiber 100% cotton terry cloths... all my car care products are from Meguiar`s, exept for the cloths and applicators which are from Viking...

Meguiar`s Quik Detailer
Meguiar`s Cleaner Wax
Meguiar`s Rich Suds Car Wash
Meguiar`s Natural Shine

next im gunna try Meguiar`s Gold Class Clearcoat Car Wax, Gold Class Leather Cleaner and Conditioner and Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner

also, i have a black IS300 so my car needs a lot of attention....

Every couple of weeks or so it goes to the detailer for a hand wash. I put clear coat on it in November and I think it is just about time for a wax job now.

It depends. If there is a lot of salt in the air, then twice a week. If the trade winds don't kick up too much salt, then weekly.

I use a combination of Meguiar's detial spray and Cal duster brush in between washes.

I use mostly Meguiar's products for my polishing and waxing.

01 IJM w/LSD, 5Zigen exhaust, 5Zigen wheels, TRD race sway bars, TRD adj. shocks, Blitz filter, springs soon.

I try to wash my car every week....having dirt on you car is much more harmful to the paint than cleaning it too much. If my car is not too dirty I just wipe it down with a damp cloth and detail spray.

It is important use a car shampo that is ph controlled and contains natural oils. Also, try to use as little shampoo as possible becuase it strips the wax.

I used to detail cars before, too much washing will never hurt it. Unless your rough with the scrubber, or don't rinse it good first. I actually wash mine every other day!! It gets waxed once a week, too. Hurray for self employment!!

Every 3 or 4 days and wax it every other Sunday. In between washes california duster and I clean the wheels every day...I cant stand the site of brake dust....no matter how minimal it is. The worse part about it is I work 70 hours a week every week, so my lunch hour is usually spent on my car, but hey...I'm not complaining!!!!

i live in Raincouver so I know how you feel...but I wash my car regardless of what the weather will be like. The point of washing your car is to get rid of the contaminants that can damage your paint...besides, I hate dirty cars

I wash it every week. Or well... I should say I have it washed every week. My bro works at the Lexus dealership where I bought my car. He's the manager over the detailing area (is that convenient or what?!?!) Anyway, I just take it down to the dealership. He brings it into the wash bay and we both wash it by hand...
Works out nicely.

Scott.

I have mine washed/detailed by a guy who comes to my office. Charges only $15 adn doesn't leave a spec of dust. I also have it waxed twice a month. Another thing I do for my car is scrubbing inside the fender wells to keep it looking as dark and black (new) as possible. Once a month I take the rims off and scrub the inside area that is not so easy to reach otherwise......

I wash several times a week.

True, washing too much will damage paint.
However, if you not only wash but apply either wax or some type of coat over your clear coat, you should be fine.

I use Finish First every 2-3 weeks. I don't think I'll be having any problems with dulling my paint.

Maybe I baby "Lexi" a little too much. She gets a bath on Monday, and then again on Friday (just before happy hour). Living by the ocean, I get a little scared of the salt water taking a toll, so she gets waxed once a month too. After all, we gotta look good when were rollin' right?
