Well i have 2 questions, first one is how do you burn out with the 2002 IS300 manual? because with my old car (97' mustang) all i had to do was hold the brake and press the gas. My second question is how do you launch your car when you race? i really want to know how to do that Thanks For All Your Help!!!!

First off....turn your trac off!!

Its real easy in our cars to "burn out"....just hit the gas.


Second, I usually launch from about 2500 to 3000 RPM whn racing at the track.

Wow. If you can drive a manual, you should be able to figure out how to burn out.

Let's think about this: burning out happens when the power to the wheels exceeds the tires' ability to hold the road. Now how would you get that kind of power to the wheels? (Hint: think gas and clutch)

Well, it's not that simple, okwiater, because of the clutch dampening device on the 5-speeds. I removed mine, and now am able to burn out. For a "true" burnout, you will want to hold the brake and heeltoe the gas if you want to stand still.

If you want to burn out at the track, then simply sit at the burnout area, and when the track attendant gives you the signal, rev it up high and let off the clutch. Keep the rpms up high while you spin your tires. Of course, your car will begin to move forward towards the staging area, simply let off before then, and stage your car.

I launch at 3000 rpm. I feather the clutch for a SLIGHT second at the point of engagement and press the pedal 3/4 of the way down until the car is past the point where it will bog down, then fully release the clutch and fully depress the gas pedal. This takes approximately 3/4 of a second elapsed time- it's a very fast and smooth transition. Just practice in a parking lot. You really don't want to spin your tires if possible, but you also don't want to bog off the line. Practice launching on the fine line that separates the two.

Hmmm, I know this device prevents you from dumping the clutch at high rpms, but I can execute a burnout without revving higher than the ceiling of 3500-4000 rpms that the CDD allows.

Of course, that's assuming that by burning out he wants to actually go somewhere. If he's just interested in leaving tread on the ground, but not getting off the line, then yeah you'll have to rev higher.

ok...questions for you guys...are you guys burning out your radial street tires before you launch at the track???

you SMART ASS guys don't need to answer this one...

oh darn...i forgot...i won't be able to log on for a couple days...gte better take care of this one while i'm gone i guess...

I did it just the other day...I think I held the rpm's at 3k and dumped the clutch (or in layman's terms released the clutched quickly). It was actually my first "peel out" in my 02. I'd like to keep the original clutch for as long as I can so I don't "burn out" on a regular basis...

thanks but i dont think you guys know what im really asking. i know how to peel out fine (i do it all the time). what i really mean is stay at one spot and let the tire roll and make smoke while im in one position.

Does the CCD affect some cars more than others? I have never had a problem dumping the clutch at anywhere from 3000 to 6000 RPM.

I don't know if this is a smartass answer, but I hope no one with street radials is doing a massive burnout at the track. If you heat a true street tire too much, it will get slimy, not sticky. Just spin them enough to clean the rocks, or any other debris, that they may have picked up in the staging lane, off.

I second that. I don't know if it's 'cause I special ordered my car (why would it?), but the CCD has never affected me. The clutch always springs right back no matter what. I guess mine doesn't work or I'm lucky.

at least someone on here knows how to drag race... :wink:

I do burn-outs all the time if you want to stay in one place just get the RPM's up to like 2500 to 4000 and have your foot on the brake a little bit and drop the clutch. You can also do dounts really nice by just turning the wheel and dumping the clutch or just rolling like 5mph and flooing it and turning the wheel try to save the clutch
