First time took me about 2 hours. I can now get it out with in 45mins. Theres a DIY posted up somewhere if you look for it.

If you paint it make sure you use the right paint. It can flake quite easily (Well mine flakes quite easily and I got a 2001)

I suggest taking out the dash, taking off the sticky material, or the soft touch crap, and just repaint. I recently did this and can't be happier, my dash is looking brand new and I just payed $6 for the dash paint from my local auto store. Following the step by step tutorial on here with pictures, I took the dash off in about an hour and a half with my cousin. We just sanded it down, cleaned it nicely and painted it. It's not difficult at all. good luck.
