Hey all,

The cable that releases the hood from inside the cabin has ceased up. I've been able to make it release by flexing the cable as it runs down the edge of the engine compartment but this weekend it was tired of playing that game.

I've ordered a new cable from the dealer ($41 CDN) and want to install it myself. Running the cable doesn't look to difficult but I can't see how to get it attached to the latch right behind the grill. It's a very tight fit and I'm not sure how to disassemble the thing.

Any suggestions or links are appreciated!

Well, ignoring the complete lack of assistance from this thread…it got accomplished yesterday.

The latch mechanism behind the grill is a bit of a joke but other than that it was pretty easy.

BTW, don’t “test” your cable installation until you’re sure your car will start in case the hood won’t open again. Mine didn’t (part way thru SRT intake install at the same time, batter was disconnected). Good thing the grill was still out, the only thing that saved me. Ahhh, lessons learned the hard way.
